Steroid users rarely see themselves as ‘drug users’ and can find drug projects intimidating. The course aims to develop confidence in working with this group, covering a range of drugs from steroids, stimulants and pain killers, to insulin and growth hormone. Methods of use, effects, side effects, health risks and harm reduction strategies are covered alongside safer injecting, ‘stacking’, and cycles of use.

Aims:

  • to raise participants' awareness of steroids and other body building drugs (BBDs)
  • to build confidence in responding to the needs of users of steroids and other BBDs
   
Participants get opportunities to:

  • find out how and why people use steroids and other BBDs
  • identify the effects, benefits, risks and side effects of using steroids and other BBDs
  • explore options for harm reduction
  • discuss how services can respond to users' needs
