This course looks at approaches to line managing staff; the parameter and purposes of supervision; templates for recording supervision; an integrated 'model' and an overview of theoretical frameworks. The course provides space to develop practice around complex issues such as making appropriate interventions and challenging effectively.

Course Outline |
|
|
Aims:
- to equip participants with the knowledge to develop a systematic approach to effective supervision
- to offer an introduction to theoretical frameworks that will underpin practice
- to further develop participants’ skills and confidence to deliver effective supervision
|
|
|
Objectives:
- to explore participant’s knowledge, experience and attitude to supervision, both personal and organisational.
- to gain an integrated approach to the content of supervision
- to agree some basic principles in delivering effective supervision
- to create a checklist of items that should be included on a supervision agenda
- to consider the range of skills, qualities and roles involved in supervision
- to explore and practice ideas to improve effective challenging and intervention in situations that arise within supervision sessions
- to be introduced to a range of theoretical frameworks
