This course equips those who work with at risk young people with a solid foundation from which they can develop their practice. It links relevant theory to a range of practical skills that support young people's personal and social development.

• have a greater awareness of appropriate codes of conduct when working with young people
• agree some basic principles in the field of child protection
• gain an understanding of relevant theories

• develop a greater professional competence in building effective relationships
