At last you can grasp the nettle of trauma and drug misuse. A 2 day course for practitioners to raise awareness and develop the skills to respond to disclosure.  These skills enable you to retain clients in treatment until they are ready to explore their experience of trauma.

Course Outline

   
Aims:
 
To understand the consequences and impact of childhood abuse, in particular child sexual abuse.

To build confidence in responding to disclosures; and in working with clients in a safe (anchored) way, whilst continuing to focus on reducing drug use
   
By the end of the course you will have had opportunities to:

  • Raise your awareness of the consequences of childhood trauma caused by experience of abuse
  • Find out how the impact of abuse may have contributed to drug misuse
  • Become confident in responding to disclosure
  • Learn some simple ways to help men and women ‘anchor' trauma
  • Develop clarity about your role in contributing to recovery
