Community Reinforcement Approach (CRA)

A leading behavioural model to assit the most highly excluded clients. Based on a structured care planning and treatment co-ordination model, the CRA programme provides a wide range of interventions that address difficulties across the spectrum of clients' lives. Using community based rewards to increase enagagement, the CRA model allows a client to construct a recovery environment that sustains long term lifestyle changes.

Aims

Course aim:
  • To equip participants with the skills to deliver the Community Reinforcement Approach with problem drug and alcohol users

Objectives

By the end of the course participants will have had opportunities to:
  • Understand the principles of reinforcement and its uses with clients
  • Explore clinical assessment to identify clients’ motivation
  • Use tools to develop motivating and achievable care plans
  • Practise skills in behavioural specific interventions to support clients achieve their goals
