Course overview:

An insightful and interactive day to understand the causes, context and impact of trauma, and apply key theories to practice to implement authentic Trauma Informed Practice for yourself and your service.

Identify core principles, components and values; and develop awareness to create physical, psychological and emotional safety and become trauma reducing in all practice.

 

Aim(s):

To understand what trauma is and how to implement authentic trauma informed practice. 

To explore helpful theories and models into practice.

 

Objectives:

By the end of the course participants will have had opportunities to:

  • Define what trauma is – its causes and context
  • Identify Core Principles, Components and Values for authentic Trauma Informed Practice
  • Recognise stress and alarm system function, and the impact of trauma
  • Explore key theories informing practice and apply them to case examples
  • Identify how to improve own & service practice to be trauma reducing

Susan Lawrence

Susan is a creative trainer, group and reflective practice facilitator with over 30 years’ experience. Susan’s work is influenced by her previous varied roles in the Voluntary and Community Sector, Social Work and Dramatherapy, and from her current work facilitating & training in trauma based, reflective practice clinical support groups. Susan is qualified in Youth & Community Work, Social Work, Creative Supervision, Adult Education and Dramatherapy.

 

Susan offers a responsive approach that helps people feel at ease. Key threads within her courses are authentic communication, developing confidence and empowerment work for individuals and the communities they work within. Susan uses inclusive and creative methods to maximise learning, enjoyment and skills development.
