Facilitating group supervision
Course overview:
An interactive two days to explore and practise how to facilitate supervision groups for both new and more established facilitators. Exploring the CLEAR supervision framework, psychological safety, group process and facilitation techniques, you will have the opportunity to reflect on your own facilitation style and practise and refine skills using real examples.
There is an option for a follow up day to refresh, reflect and facilitate embedding learning into practice.
Aim(s):
To explore good practice and develop confidence and skills to facilitate supervision groups.
Objectives:
By the end of the course, you will have opportunities to:
- Gain insight into the CLEAR supervision framework
- Clarify the purpose of supervision
- Agree a clear format for clinical supervision group delivery
- Explore group processes together
- Consider learning and leadership good practice and how this applies to supervision facilitation
- Explore facilitation techniques and models, reflecting on your own facilitation style
- Discuss psychological safety, building trust and how we can create the conditions for this within teams and groups
- Practise a variety of facilitation tools and techniques together
- Explore and practise giving and receiving constructive feedback
Maximum group size: 16

Rowan Miller
Rowan worked in drug and alcohol services for 18 years as a practitioner and manager in both young people and adult services. She continued to develop as a manager & leader in a number of roles including Deputy Regional Alcohol Manager for the South West, Development Manager for The Training Exchange and CEO of Somerset and Avon Rape and Sexual Abuse Support (SARSAS).
Rowan was then Head of Funding across the South West region for the National Lottery Community Fund and led the England response to the women and girls sector. Rowan is now the Development Director for eight regional Eating Disorder Charities in the UK.
Rowan has been delivering training for 25 years and is a trained supervisor, qualified coach and has completed the leadership and facilitation course with Schumacher College “Co-creating the emerging future”.
